Wine slushies are perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day — or enjoying on a gorgeous summer evening. Get started with one of these fruity recipes from Chateau Grand Traverse.
To make a wine slushie at home, you’ll need:
- An ice tray or container for freezing
- A standard or immersion blender
- Your favorite Michigan wine
- Simple syrup (here’s a recipe from the Food Network)
- Fresh or frozen fruit
White Wine Slushie
2 cups white wine (semidry Riesling recommended)
3 cups fresh or frozen fruit (berries, peaches or pineapple)
1/2 cup simple syrup
Freeze the two cups of wine in ice cube trays or a pan overnight, along with the fruit you will be using. Combine the frozen wine and fruit in a blender, adding simple syrup by the teaspoon and tasting after each addition until reaching the desired sweetness. Serve.
Frosé
1 bottle rosé
1/2 cup simple syrup
1 cup quartered strawberries
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
Freeze the rosé overnight in ice cube trays or a freezer-safe container. Combine the strawberries and simple syrup over medium heat in a pot, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Put the strawberry mixture in the refrigerator until chilled. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend and serve immediately.
