Sallie Campbell’s Favorite Recipe
(Traditional Dutch Dessert Bar)
2 2/3 cups flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups butter
1 cup almond paste
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
Heat oven to 325 F. Grease 10-inch springform pan.
Crust: Blend all crust ingredients until dough forms. Chill slightly. Divide in half. Spread half in the bottom of the pan. Set aside the other half.
Filling: Blend filling ingredients in mixer. Spread over bottom crust.
Roll remaining crust between Saran Wrap and place over filling. Garnish with almonds. Bake 55 minutes.
