USA Today readers sure are enthusiastic about our wineries. In less than a month, Michigan wineries have made two 10Best lists. As we reported in August, four local venues made the list of 10 Best Wine Country Hotels, and now one of our regions has made the 10 Best Wine Regions list.

Squeaking in at No. 10 on the national publication’s latest list is Old Mission Peninsula, along Grand Traverse Bay. The region is the only Midwestern region on the list, joining three regions from California and one each from Washington, New York, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, and Virginia.

The winners were decided by readers, who voted on a list of nominees determined by a panel of experts and 10Best editors.

The wineries on the Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail are: 2 Lads, Black Star Farms, Bowers Harbor Vineyards, Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery, Chateau Chantal, Chateau Grand Traverse, Hawthorne Vineyards, Mari Vineyards, Peninsula Cellars, and Tabone Vinyeards.

“It is often stated that grapes like to grow where people like to live,” says Eddie O’Keefe, president of Chateau Grand Traverse. “Not only is Old Mission Peninsula a spectacular locale to live or visit, it has earned this respected national status for the stylistic wines we all produce. My fellow wineries should all be proud to achieve such a distinction.”
