Michigan wineries are sharing the Michigan Wine Month love with their fans.
As the industry celebrates Michigan Wine Month with virtual events, online specials and curbside service, wineries across the state are offering specials in honor of this special month.
St. Julian’s Michigan Wine Month Special is offering doorstep delivery of mix-and-match wines at various discounts through May 30. Customers who buy a case or more pay exactly one penny for shipping, and also receive 10 percent off the order — 15 percent off for Wine Club members.
The Paw Paw winery has also created At-Home Tasting Six-Packs that include six bottles of wine (sweet, dry, sweet-dry combination and a dry-red option), a wine opener, a booklet for tasting notes and a link to a video that has winemaker Nancie Oxley providing a guided tasting.
Bel Lago in Leelanau County decided moms deserve more than just one Sunday in May to be celebrated, and so the Leelanau County winery has created a Month of Mom box. The package includes Bel Lago’s own wines, local Grocer’s Daughter ruffles and BLK MRKT coffee. The Sweet Mama option has five bottles of sweeter-style wines; Smooth Mama offers five bottles of drier-style wines; and both have four-piece chocolates and 12 ounces of coffee. The winery is also happy to customize the collection tailored to the recipient’s taste. Orders can be shipped or arranged for pickup at curbside.
Lemon Creek Winery in Berrien Springs is offering a Michigan Wine Month bundle. The winery has assembled four-bottle sampler packs that are preselected and discounted by 25 percent.
“We have done this with the hope that people who are new to our wines will have the chance to try a variety of our best without having to guess what they may like (or what we would recommend if we had the chance to talk with them in person),” says Tasting Room Manager Kate Lemon.
Current Bundle Selections include:
- Dry Red 4-Pack: ’17 Cabernet Sauvignon Barrel Select, ‘17 Meritage, ‘16 Pinot Noir and ‘16 Malbec;
- Dry White 4-Pack: ‘17 Chardonnay, ‘17 Pinot Grigio, ‘17 Sauvignon Blanc and ‘17 Kerner;
- Dry Wine Mix 4-Pack: ‘17 Cabernet Sauvignon Barrel Select, ‘17 Merlot, ‘18 Chardonnay and ‘17 Pinot Grigio; and
- Sweet Wine 4-Pack: Silver Beach Sauterne, Ruby Rose, Sweet Riesling and Cherry Wine

C.F. Fontaine of Leelanau Peninsula is featuring its Woodland White at a discounted rate of $14 a bottle during Michigan Wine Month. The winery likens it to fruit-flavored sugar-free seltzers that are so popular right now — something akin to an herbal tea, but with a bit more kick. Click here or call 231-256-0000 to set up a curbside appointment.
Amoritas Vineyards in Lake Leelanau is offering a variety of combo packs at a discounted rate to help ease the pain of quarantine, says Becca Worley, tasting room manager. They’re also offering a variety of online specials including its semi-sweet 2016 Hail Mary Riesling, which is on sale for $8 a bottle now.
“It’s perfect for spicy food or just simply enjoying the warmer weather sipping,” Worley says.
Amoritas is open Monday, Thursday and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. for curbside or porch pickup and is fulfilling online orders daily.
